Mudmaps/Duty staff session (NM)

PB4L Lead Day August

The neuroscience behind acknowledgements.  The release of endorphins.  Feel good factor.

Effective positive feedback to children.   What you SAY is really important - then acknowledge with a free and frequent (verbal every time!)

Revise active supervision.   How's it going?   Zone one, blue court presence.  4/1 is the "cake." The free and frequent is the icing.  What is the mud map data showing us?  NM to use slideshow in a Monday afternoon session also.

4/1 focus in the classrooms also.  Focus for classroom walk throughs this term.

Involving students in the construction of our acknowledgement systems?  Student council teams.   Have a look on online surveys (survey monkey and zoomerang) for PB4L student voice.

We need to be able to collect data on this acknowledgement system.   Individual students/staff using it etc ....

Ideas - Acknowledgements for staff.  Random wheel spin with ideas.  Coffee vouchers.  Sleep in, go early.   Off active supervision.  Wine for wellness draws.  Love language quiz - what works for you (positive affirmation).   RoK days for school / staff.   Students acknowledging staff.

Action Plan from here:
Ask students and staff about what is valued re acknowledgements for students.  Student council first (NM) and perhaps TAs to survey a random selection of students guided by us.

Acknowledgements PD session in Week 7 (run by James/Jono)

Active Supervision PD part of weekly Monday admin sessions - keeping that on top ....

Breens tree review - NC to continue and work with student leadership team and put out a community survey also before the end of the year.

Mana Enhancement Project - PD led by Steve and James

Mana Enhancement Model A tool for Positive Behaviour Management Uses narrative and stories of Māori creation to understand the student's mana and to feed into the strengths of students.   Maui is a key figure.  Mana is central in the model. See more information below about Mana Enhancement from Steve's slideshow Papatuanuku (earth mother) - what nurtures, calms, sustains us When asking the children about the aspects of papatuanuku, listen without judgement. Ranginui (sky father) - how we respond to life's challenges My reflections - This is a useful model to help students better understand their own emotions and how to self regulate.  How could this be part of our wellbeing model and be utilised within our existing pastoral care model.    One on one mentoring with key students - using the model to support students with their individual behaviour goals. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1o-aC1IideJtMCVXTbokYBtMfCQR3pbbhWhpTOpWzhb0...
